May 19-20

I was able to post these 5 or 6 pictures from May 19-20 a few weeks ago and haven't been able to get a strong enough WiFi signal anywhere since then to add the text.  Just got to Chicken, Alaska (more about that later) and have WiFi again (it's June 4)---at least until they turn the generator off sometime tonight.  I'm  going to do my posts differently after this one, but just want to add the missing captions/descriptions to these already-posted pictures.

Around this time we started seeing more and more snow on the ground.  Several of the campgrounds we stayed at had good-sized patches of snow which the dogs enjoyed playing in (or at least I enjoyed it!)  I haven't had to drive on any snow and the roads are all clear and dry.

There are lots of interesting places to stop as I travel along.  This one is self-explanatory.  I have to say, though, that I did not see Sasquatch.
On Friday, May 20, I put a package of cut up beef chunks (pot roast type), some little potatoes, and carrots into my little 12V crock pot and started it cooking before I left the campground in the morning.  After several hours of driving, it started smelling very good, and by the time I got to the Sikanni River Campground, dinner was ready!  This was my first crock-pot meal this trip.  Celebrated  by having it at a picnic table alongside the Sikanni River at our campsite.  Yummy!

This carved eagle guarded the campground.

This was one of the more elaborate bird houses around the campground.

And last but not least, I especially liked the restrooms at the Sikanni River Campground!
